Part of a cadets basic trining involves seamanship - the ability to do basic knots, tie bends and hitches. Once he or she completes their basic training, they can Specialise and learn a whole range of other subjects including ropework and rigging it is divided into three seperate classes. Third Class being the lowest
and first class being the highest.
