Winchelsea Opera - June 2009

"OPERATION WHEELBARROW"

Rye Sea Cadets were asked if they could help out at the Winchelsea Opera and being an obliging lot agreed instantly. They were asked if they could find someway of getting picnics and chairs being brough by the opera lovers from their cars to the main arena - some distance away.

This led to operation "wheelbarrow" being placed into immediate effect. Cadets met the opera goers at their cars and asked if they wanted a hand with their belongings. Many of the agreed and said it was a fantastic idea.

Many of the customers of this unique service left a donation at the wheelbarrows.

Lt Spicer - the units commanding said he would like to thank all of the cadets for their hardwork, it was obviously apreciated by the people attending the opera as they left enough donations to enable the cadets to go for a bowling evening.
