Health and safety is extremely important within the Sea Cadets. when a cadet first joins, they are given a full tour of the unit headquarters and are shown where their nearest fire exits and fire alasrm call points are located. In the event of a fire, cadets must vacate the unit via the nearest exit, in accordance with the units Standing Orders.
Cadets are advised not to tackle the fire as this will be done by experts from the Fire and Rescue service. However it is good practice that cadets know what fire fighting equipment is available at the unit, at home and in the workplace.
