Expedition Leader - Grade 6

EL6.

Terms of Reference.

An EL6 will have the ability to lead groups on DAY WALKS in Class C country in Summer conditions, within the following limitations:

a. Walks are to be planned to end not later than two hours before sunset.

b. The route must not be further than three kilometres from a metalled road and must follow recognised paths.

c. The leader to cadet ratio must not fall below 1–6.

As this award carries with it the responsibility of looking after groups of cadets, it is awarded by the ASO(ET).

The applicant must:

a. Be at least 14 years old.

b. Meet the standards detailed in the Course Training Plan (CTP).

First Aid Requirement.
The requirement is as follows:

a. Adult applicants must be at least a First Aid Appointed Person.

b. Cadets may be awarded EL6 without a First Aid Qualification. In this case, the cadet may use his qualification only when accompanied by a First Aid Appointed Person.
